Weeding the Garden with the Chickens

Above, we used the chickens to weed the garden..Basically, we moved the chickens in their tractor over the weeds for the afternoon. Below is how we moved the chickens.



今天我們把雞移到一個有很多雜草的地方除我們的雜草。

Recently, we've started to make leaf mold...Basically, to make leaf mold, you simply put a pile of leaves into the compost and then wait three years...It is used as compost when it's done.

Halloween!

Halloween has recently passed and here are photos of our costumes and our pumpkins!

EGGS！

As you can see, our chickens have laid many eggs of different colors. Generally the sizes are fairly the same although we have had a rather large one that had two yolks.....Last week was a typical week, the number of eggs laid that week was:

Sunday-4 eggs
Monday-4 eggs
Tuesday-2 eggs
Wednesday-2 eggs
Thursday-5 eggs
Friday-3 eggs
Saturday-3 eggs


我們家的雞蠻會生蛋，而且顏色都不一樣。 有時候我們會有比較大的蛋。。。 有時候會有雙黃蛋。。。這是上個禮拜生的蛋：

Fall Is Here!

Fall has at last arrived! The October weather here is lovely....cold, but rather nice. Of course, the rain has returned which is great....

秋天終於來了！十月的天氣真好，雖然冷，卻不會太冷。 當然，雨也回來了，真是讓人高興！

Endive....pt. 2 (sort of)

Recently, under suggestion, we ate endive cooked with bacon. It was rather popular amongst us and most of us enjoyed it. (There was a person who didn't like bacon or endive, together or separate, but never mind them.)

我們前幾天又吃了endive，可是， 我們是把他和培根一起煮的。我們大部分都覺得很好吃。只有一個人不喜歡因為他不喜歡吃培根或endive.

Light for the chickens!

Chickens need 15 hours of daylight. They need this amount of daylight because if they don't, they don't lay eggs. Since winter is approaching, we put a light bulb in their coop. We also have a timer that turns off the light because we don't have to do it ourselves after a certain amount of hours....

雞需要十五個小時的陽光， 因為 如果他們沒有他們就不會生蛋。因為冬天快來了， 我們為他們裝了一個燈。這樣他們連冬天時也可以生蛋。
