Recently, we've started to make leaf mold...Basically, to make leaf mold, you simply put a pile of leaves into the compost and then wait three years...It is used as compost when it's done.

  1. When I was at Grailville we used leaf mold in place of peat moss in one of our potting soil mixes. It should be really rich in micro-nutrients. It would be interesting to see how your garden beds tested and what adding leaf mold changed them.

  2. We haven't tested our soil yet. Our garden seemed to grow fine this year. I guess we shouldn't wait until we have trouble before we test though. Maybe that is something we can do before spring planting.
