We have enjoyed, as somewhat of a tradition, making paper snowflakes.
Also, this year, buying presents for each other was fun and a bit tough but still enjoyable.
This is a mini picture exhibit of our Christmas lights. We are highly excited for Christmas to arrive...As well, thankfully, no one got hurt while putting up our lights.

EGGS!
As you can see, our chickens have laid many eggs of different colors. Generally the sizes are fairly the same although we have had a rather large one that had two yolks.....Last week was a typical week, the number of eggs laid that week was:
Sunday-4 eggs
Monday-4 eggs
Tuesday-2 eggs
Wednesday-2 eggs
Thursday-5 eggs
Friday-3 eggs
Saturday-3 eggs

Endive....pt. 2 (sort of)

Light for the chickens!
Chickens need 15 hours of daylight. They need this amount of daylight because if they don't, they don't lay eggs. Since winter is approaching, we put a light bulb in their coop. We also have a timer that turns off the light because we don't have to do it ourselves after a certain amount of hours....

Endive....
The plant with the light green, layered leaves and frilly edges is endive....We ate it recently, flavoring it with garlic and salt. Though the added flavoring did not mask the bitter taste that came naturally with the endive. I personally did not enjoy the taste of endive though....

Our Chickens' First Egg!
Today (or perhaps it was yesterday) one of our chickens laid an egg (see picture 2)! It has us all excited because pretty soon, we'll have more...Anyway, the egg was small and was brown and speckled with white flecks. The other photos are just updates of our chickens' growth.

BIGGEST Asian Pear we've grown ever!!!!
To start this out, you should know that we have three Asian pear trees...Anyway, the pear on the left (our left), is the one the title refers to....The one on the right (our right) is the average size of our Asian pears. All of which are quite delicious.

Chinese School~
Chinese School is almost starting...not the most exciting news, but inevitable..Anyway, the photo is of some pens and other writing utensils and the books are the textbooks my brother and I used to study for our skip grade test.(A test that we both passed...) It was rather difficult but we managed to learn a school years' worth of Chinese in two months.

We're back from Taiwan!
Our trip to Taiwan was, overall, fun....(We took our vacation from June 24 to August 20) The photo above is from our trip. It is of us, during the day of the typhoon, which destroyed a lot in the southern part of Taiwan (we we're in the northern part at the time). The food was really yummy and we visited relatives.

More garden
Here are some of our garden plants.
Baby Bok Choy. This is still very young. We hope they will be big enough to eat by mid October. We'll see.
Green onion. We just moved these so they will have more room to grow.
This is Gai Lan a kind of Chinese broccoli. It was hit really hard by some kind of bug. Some of the plants looked like there was nothing left. Most of them have come back now.
This is also Baby Bok Choy. It is from an earlier planting and so it is much bigger.
We have some strawberries. They had fruit in the spring and it looks like they have more now.
We have some nice Swiss Chard plants but this one got killed by something (Not sure what). Hope the others will not suffer the same fate.
This is Buttercrunch Lettuce. It seems to be growing fine. We will let some of them develop heads and others we will pick leaves off as they grow.
These are Romaine Lettuce. They seem to be doing well.
We have two tomato plants. We should get some tomatoes from this cherry. The other one is a big tomato variety and it just now started to flower. We don't expect any tomatoes from it before it is too cold but we will see. When we pull the tomatoes out hopefully there will still be time for some spinach or something.
Not shown here we also have some endive and some peas.
